Chef David Rose shares last minute holiday cooking tips that keep the stress out of the kitchen

Chef David Rose shares last minute holiday cooking tips that keep the stress out of the kitchen

From the seasoned chef to the newbie cook dinner, vacation cooking suggestions can make people moments in the kitchen area a lot less stress filled. Even if the holiday food stuff television displays make that photo excellent desk appear effortless, the reality may possibly feel diverse in the property kitchen area. Fortunately, Chef David Rose, from Omaha Steaks, has some final-minute holiday getaway cooking assistance that is the ultimate food stuff present this calendar year.

From the holiday break occasion to a particular event to even just Sunday relatives dinners, Omaha Steaks is a mainstay in lots of people’s homes. Though every person appreciates the flavor and price that the food items brand name presents, it is typically the comfort of owning that evening meal prepared and ready that will make men and women change to the brand around and around once more.

With the massive celebration approaching, FoodSided asked Chef David Rose for some previous-moment holiday break cooking tips to guarantee that the every thing goes smoothly. When the celebrated chef appreciates his way all-around the kitchen area, there was one particular idea that guarantees almost everything goes smoothly. It really arrives down to setting up.

Chef Rose claimed, “planning ahead of time is vital. Prep as a great deal as you can the day ahead of. Regardless of whether it is that macaroni and cheese, yet another aspect dish or even dessert, that preparing is important.”

While the qualified chef appreciates mise en spot, every little thing in its area, the actuality is that this idea is one thing a house prepare dinner can easily adopt. As Chef Rose stated, “when you’re thoroughly clean, structured, centered, everything is extra productive. You’re not jogging close to like a rooster with its head minimize off.”

Introducing onto that thought, Chef Rose mentioned that dwelling cooks really should not be afraid to get a tiny support. Incorporating a couple retail store purchased or pre-made items to the meal can be a enormous worry reducer. Irrespective of whether it is an Omaha Steaks dessert, like the apple tarts, or a easy aspect dish like people hashbrowns, it can enable the residence cook to emphasis on the more substantial part of the food.

Chef David Rose shares the solution to trying to keep a protein juicy and flavorful.

As quite a few cooks make the closing preparing for that getaway feast, Chef David Rose shared a magic formula that can help ensure a much more flavorful food. Because Omaha Steaks arrive frozen, it is essential to thaw that meals appropriately. Even if the time is brief, the appropriate method is imperative.

In accordance to Chef Rose, it is very best to thaw elements in the fridge. This system “allows the protein to keep much more of its pure juices and all these juices usually means that there is flavor.” The thought is identical to why it is essential for meat to rest prior to cutting it. No one particular needs the flavor to operate out on the cutting board. The proteins should not absence taste prior to it hits the pan.

But, every person has had that “forgotten” minute when it is virtually time to prepare dinner and the protein is however frozen. Chef Rose suggests to slowly thaw the meat (sealed in the packaging) in water. The course of action is faster than the refrigerator system, but it need to be finished with care. Under no circumstances submerge a product or service in tremendous sizzling water. General, plan is to maintain things as light as possible.

The most critical tips that Chef Rose wishes everybody to don’t forget is to steer clear of thawing proteins on the kitchen area counter. This system will not generate the ideal results.

Even now, some cooks may possibly be involved that the “oops” second could derail the getaway food. Even though cooks respect that the “pivot” is 2nd character in the kitchen area, the property prepare dinner requires to respect that every thing will get the job done out. Even if an item is still frozen, the roast gets too “roasted” or something else, there are a lot of other Omaha Steaks goods that can substituted in a pinch. It is the delicious purpose why they really should be a staple in the freezer.

The best present that cooks can give to themselves is to embrace the miscalculation. Perfection is not as tasty as the spirited discussion about the desk. The good thing is, individuals moments are constantly entire of flavor.

The Kitchen Accessories Our Readers Loved the Most in 2022

It’s that time of calendar year again—the time when we get the urge to replicate on existence, acquire a appear back again at how we put in our time and revenue, and ask ourselves queries like, “How did I survive so very long without a mini foodstuff processor?” I realized a lot about all of us though curating this checklist of all the items we beloved that you liked. These are the products that we wrote about in 2022 that you, visitors, went nuts for (and by that I necessarily mean you purchased 657 jars of the Costco nut butter we Highly Suggested). Yellow sriracha is improved than red sriracha. At least which is what BA art assistant Julia Duarte thinks, and apparently our audience concur. Three Mountains Yellow Sriracha is designed with yellow Thai burapa chiles its taste is nuanced and tangy with just the right quantity of heat. Set it on avocado toast, crispy salmon, or poke, and your meals will hardly ever be the identical.

The finest element of deep-frying is the heap of warm, crispy morsels—like harissa-honey popcorn chicken and potato samosas—that await your consumption. The worst portion is figuring out how to dispose of the oil. With FryAway, though, BA contributor Sarah Jampel has discovered a option. These plant-based flakes solidify utilized cooking oil into a blubbery brick that can be disposed of with other house trash.

Back in July, I waxed rhapsodic about my Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus (a.k.a. my little sous-chef), and you, readers, ended up into it. Not just simply because it is so adorable, but mainly because it operates miracles for simplifying weeknight meal prep. It dices veggies and can make sauces in a flash, and not like bulky whole-size food stuff processors, this one’s tremendous compact and simple to clean up.

Talking of espresso, y’all drank a large amount of it in 2022. To make absolutely sure you never ran out of beans, you signed up for a Trade espresso subscription. It is just one of our most loved coffee subscription providers, and BA head of electronic movie June Kim gets it delivered to her doorway each individual handful of weeks. This chilly-press juicer helps make swift get the job done of every thing from tender fruit to wheatgrass—and it can even churn out  nut butters, nut milks, and toddler meals.

Are we capable of curating a record of our favorite matters without the need of mentioning Fly By Jing? From the spicy-sweet Zhong sauce to the savory pork dumplings, there is a large amount to love—and our viewers specifically adore their Sichuan Chile Crisp. Senior cooking editor Emma Laperruque places it most effective: “It has an endless umami taste. And the smoky-tingly heat, attributable to equally spicy chiles and numbing Sichuan peppers, is at just the appropriate stage to continue to keep me going back again for more.”

Fly By Jing Sichuan Chile Crisp

BA contributor Rachel Dolfi states that even the toughest fish and garlic odors are no match for this hand scrub, which was produced by and for fishermen (so you know it is excellent). This yr, you sought consistency—in the type of cookies that are all the specific identical size, form, and diameter. And for that, you bought a cookie scoop. Acquiring uniform cookies doesn’t just make for an appealing, experienced-seeking ultimate presentation, it also assures that the cookies bake evenly. So even though you do not technically require 1, you’ll undoubtedly want just one.

OXO Great Grips Medium Cookie Scoop

Senior commerce editor MacKenzie Chung Fegan—and quite a few BA readers—adores these XCJ Frozen Xiao Very long Bao, which get only 12 minutes to get ready. Just pop them in the steamer, get your soup spoon, chopsticks, and black vinegar completely ready, and supper is served.

Increase your hand if you did not regularly clean up your h2o bottles until eventually BA electronic operations associate Nico Avalle reminded you they were filthy AF. Exact. These times, we’re scrubbing our bottles with soap and drinking water much more generally and making use of these fizzy cleansing tablets to fight mineral buildup and odors.

I by no means imagined I’d purchase cookies for their fiber written content, but I did. Now they are my favorite keep-bought cookies at any time. These hazelnut and dark chocolate cookies sit somewhere amongst a crumbly chocolate chip cookie and a buttery shortbread. Positive, they are “healthy,” but it’s their rich, nutty flavor and their sensitive, soften-in-your mouth texture that obtained us all hooked.

If you’ve at any time watched one particular of BA’s exam kitchen videos, you’ve in all probability observed our food stuff editors wearing crossback aprons, also recognised as smock aprons or Japanese-style aprons. They are light-weight, strapless, and fit around your garments like a tunic. Our audience favored this cost-effective linen-cotton amount, which has deep pockets (and can take on a cute, rustic wrinkle).

The most effective vessel for just about just about anything is not a plate, but a pasta bowl. It is in essence a plate-bowl mash-up that’s vast, reduced, and shallow—ideal for holding almost everything from sloshing sauces to meaty drippings to bitsy grains. BA staffers agree that it improves the two the presentation and the ingesting expertise, and we can conclude that when you go pasta bowl, you by no means go back.

Even if you have picked the very best berries out of the bunch, trying to keep them clean is not quick. To overcome this, we turned to this develop keeper, which has an elevated, removable basket that lifts deliver up from the container partitions for max airflow and minimum berry rotting. Oh, and we also realized the respond to to this issue: Do a number of moldy berries wreck the whole batch?

We have usually loved nut butter, but 2022 was the 12 months we bought hip to the greatest nut butter: Kirkland Signature Combined Nut Butter. The key component? SEEDS. It’s built with almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, and flaxseed—all of which give it an ultra-creamy regularity with a subtle crunch.

Waking up in the early morning is much more magical when you’ve bought a Le Creuset French push. This heirloom espresso maker isn’t just stunning, it also makes a mouth watering, comprehensive-bodied cup of joe. BA contributor Anna Fitzpatrick puts it this way: “My Le Creuset French press symbolizes anything I like about adulthood.” We can see why.

Senior commerce editor MacKenzie Chung Fegan states this W&P Peak Silicone Ice Tray is the ideal ice cube tray she’s at any time used. Not like other silicone ice trays, which are floppy and wobbly, this just one will get some framework from a stainless-metal body. That implies effortless filling and no spillage whilst transporting it from faucet to freezer. Ah, the small issues.

Each cook dinner requirements a silicone spatula, and this a person from GIR designed our list of BA’s Ideal Baking Applications in 2022. Here’s why we all enjoy it: It’s heat resistant, it’s simple to thoroughly clean, and most important, it’s the two strong and versatile. We’re obsessed with the mini variation much too.

These 11 Kitchen Tools I’m Obsessed With Are Also Amazing Last-Minute Gifts

This story is part of Gift Guide, our year-round collection of the best gift ideas.

Cheap pans, hand-me-down dishes, thin, generic cutlery: I spent years using starter cookware like anyone else. But once I was able to invest in quality kitchen gear I actually cared about, the most amazing thing happened. I became a better cook. Part of that surely has to do with experience points. But I peg at least some of my improvement on higher-performing tools and actually caring about the implements I use as part of the cooking process.

While I’ll probably never stop gushing about these incredibly useful kitchen tools under $25 that I don’t want to live without, there are also some favorite cooking items that I’m convinced are worth the bigger bucks — and they also happen to make great gifts.

Don’t worry, I’m not talking about $500 single-use gadget that sees the light of day once a year. I’m talking about practical cooking tools I use weekly and sometimes daily in my tiny galley kitchen. And I stand by every single one of them. I’m confident that if any of these kitchen items strike your fancy, they’ll soon become your favorites, too.

Staub

Lodge and Le Creuset are terrific, tried-and-tested Dutch ovens that cook a variety of food evenly. But I couldn’t be happier with this tall-sided 5-quart Staub Cocotte, which comes in an array of colors for pretty much any style. With a cast iron core, it isn’t light, but it is uniformly excellent. In fact, it’s my go-to cooking vessel for most things, and it goes from stove to oven to table to fridge flawlessly. My brother got a smaller model that he uses for proofing and baking bread, which goes to show the versatility of this pot.

Breville

I had an inexpensive pair of electric beaters that always gave me trouble — ditching it for this Breville Handy Mix Scraper was one of the best decisions I made, especially during this season of abundant baking. This mixer seriously does it all: It comes with whisks, creamer inserts and dough hooks! It has a built-in light so you can see what’s in the bowl! There’s a stopwatch feature so you can see how long you’ve been mixing and a pause button that keeps track of your speed settings and time while you take a break to scrape down the bowl! The cord base can rotate to get out of your way! And it has a convenient storage situation where you can keep all the beater wands!

I’ve owned an immersion blender for years, but recently upgraded myself to the Braun MultiQuick 7 for its robust design, powerful motor and fun extras, like a mini food processor attachment (like, for making quick work of onions and herbs) and a balloon whisk attachment for quickly whipping or whisking without having to go full-bore with the electric beaters.

I use this tool constantly, to process soups right in the pan, make salsa in the included beaker, whip cream into soft peaks and make quick work of pulverizing onion without hefting the food processor to the counter. It’s also wonderfully easy to clean and dry, and small and light enough to pull out from the pantry any time I need it. I can’t recommend it enough.

I may have spoiled myself buying the Google Nest Hub smart speaker display for my kitchen. I have it set up on a riser shelf on my counter, next to a phone stand where I can also keep my phone away from the worst of tea splatters and flying onions. I use the Nest Hub for everyday things like checking the weather as I’m making my morning cuppa and playing music (with song lyrics!) while I cook. I use the two hands-free timers multiple times a day, and look up recipes on the screen (you can follow these step-by-step).

There’s also an extra function where you can program the Nest Hub to forgo the “OK, Google” or “Hey, Google” wake word when you look at it and start listening to you with just a glance (Google calls this Look and Talk). That’s ultra convenient for saving some time and breath every time you want to ask for unit conversion measures, adding to or canceling a timer and skipping to the next track.

Shun

I have lusted after Shun Premier knives for over a decade and finally bought two for my new kitchen: the 8-inch chef’s knife and a 3.5-inch paring knife. Over Black Friday, I added a 7-inch Santoku blade to the mix. I adore the way the rounded handles balance, and the stunning, wavy pattern on the forged blade boasts an edge designed to hold sharpness far longer than average. That’s good for me, because the sound of knife sharpening sets my every tooth, bone and neuron on fire.

Shun Premier knives come in gray and brown wood handle options. The Classic knives are cheaper and also very good (yes, I’ve tried them out, too). But my heart belongs to the Premier line for the way they feel in my hand, and the extra aesthetics on the blade (69 layers of Damascus steel, if you’re wondering). I store them in a drawer with a blade guard case to protect the knife sharpness (and my fingers). Here are other recommended chef’s knives as well.

Zojirushi has an excellent reputation for countertop appliances that hit the high-water mark. I’ve been beyond happy with my Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker since I bought it earlier this year. My pantry is stuffed with six kinds of rice and at least four other grains I routinely cook up. The settings are easy to use and whether I wash the grains or not, whatever I’m making comes out evenly cooked. Plus, it plays a song when starting and ending a cycle, which is much nicer than a loud beep or buzz.

The Neuro Fuzzy in particular takes up more counter space than the most compact models, and rice can take an hour for a typical cycle of even cooking. But there are lots of settings, including a quick cook mode, and cleanup is easy. (Here are meals you can make in the rice cooker other than rice.)

Breville

Buying the Breville Smart Oven Pro Toaster Oven (BOV845BSS) was one of my best kitchen decisions. It toasts, it broils, it roasts. And since it has a convection oven function, you can totally skip the separate air fryer — and cook more stuff at once. I love the countdown clock that takes the mystery out of when your food will be done, and I love that I can bake a single batch of cookies or toast walnuts faster than a standard oven, and without having to heat the whole thing first. Plus, the brushed stainless steel body looks pretty great on my countertop.

Le Creuset dutch ovens are all the rage (I actually really love my Staub Cocotte), but one of the best gifts I ever received was this Le Creuset casserole dish that can go straight from oven to table (to fridge!) while cooking food evenly and looking awesome. I would buy this all over again, and gift it, too. It comes in a range of striking colors, and shockingly cleans easily — with a little soak in soapy hot water and a dirt-cheap pan scraper. I’m the kind of person who excels at ruining dutch ovens with burned-on spots. After a couple years, this dish has remained spot-free, even after roasting dark, sticky stews (yum!).

A workhorse apron is worth its weight in gold. I’m thankful I finally stumbled on Hedley & Bennett, which makes a seemingly endless supply of thick, sturdy aprons I now can’t fail to miss seeing seemingly any time I walk into a restaurant. If these aprons can handle the stresses of a professional kitchen, they can handle the flying sauces and batter in mine. I bought myself two styles, including a Cookie Monster print that never fails to make my inner child giggle. The apron’s neck loop is adjustable, there are a lot of pockets, and so far the waist straps haven’t gotten scrunched, twisted or mangled in the washer or dryer.

I’m not the kind of wine enthusiast who owns a different glass for every varietal — not yet, anyway. Instead, I opt for one all-rounder that will work beautifully no matter which bottle I open, erring on the side of big, bold reds. I’ve been using these “Burgundy” glasses from Schott Zwiesel for years, and my Amazon search history told me I bought them five times, twice for myself and three times as a gift. Yes, I do drink white wine, rose and sparkling out of them (gasp!), and they all taste terrific. Better in my mind to drink from a glass with a too-big bowl than a cramped glass that stifles all that great wine nose.

If you don’t use an electric kettle yet, drop everything and get yourself one. This indispensable kitchen savior rapidly heats water for tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and it gives you a head start on boiling vats of water for pasta, blanching or anything else you need. I’ve owned and gifted a lot of electric kettles, and most work about the same way. This Zwilling Enfingy Electric Kettle has a sleeker, more sophisticated look and variable temperature controls. I also like that it’s got a cool-touch exterior that won’t burn you when you pick it up.

There’s no viewing window for water height and you have to feel comfortable with capacitive controls that you press and hold, but these aren’t deal-breakers for me by any means.

12 Kitchen Tools Under $25 I Can’t Live Without — and How to Use Them

12 Kitchen Tools Under I Can’t Live Without — and How to Use Them

This story is part of Gift Guide, our year-round collection of the best gift ideas.

I love to eat, but I also love to cook. What the parade of meals coming out of my kitchen has taught me — most dishes humble but tasty, some of them a little more involved — is that the cooking tools I use matter.

There are some kitchen tools I really love that are worth investing in, like my Le Creuset lidded baking dish and drop-dead gorgeous knives. But there are also the workhorse tools I use alongside them, like the $5 doohicky that saves me hours of soaking, scrubbing and swearing during dish duty.

I’ve owned and used all these items for years now, and I still love them as much as I did when I first ripped open the package — if not more. I hope you like them, too. (P.S. — I recently updated this story with new favorites and checked for pricing and availability. Note that both price and availability can and do change.)

I’ve searched high and low for a spoon rest I don’t hate — and I finally found it. This space-saving Yamazaki Home stand keeps cooking spoons, ladles, tongs and pot lids from clattering to the counter and spraying my cooking surface with goopy sauces and splats. It’s stylish enough to blend into most kitchen environments (it also comes in white/grey and there’s a similar style that’s all-white with a bamboo rest bar). Importantly, the bottom catch tray pops out, so all pieces are easy to clean.

Note that lighter colors may have you more nervously eyeing stains, especially if you cook with lots of red, oily sauces or yellow seasonings like turmeric. I haven’t had a lasting stain yet, but when in doubt, the black color will be more forgiving.

In my family, these Korean stew and rice spoons are now the dominant, and most asked-for spoon of choice — to the point they’ve been nicknamed “life-changing spoons.”

You can buy long-handled spoons online or in many Asian markets. My personal preference is to get a set with round handles, not the thin kind with the flat ends. Prices vary, but they’re not expensive either way — say $16 for a pack of five good quality spoons, or even $15 for a pack of eight.

I’m a huge fan of countertop risers and have these shelf organizers from multiple brands in my kitchen, bathroom, shelving and right next to me here on my desk. They not only double your storage and organizational space by creating a second tier but also enhance the environment as an accent piece that happens to be functional. For example, use them to elevate a paper towel holder or smart display while storing spices or other tools below. Or perhaps create a hot drinks center like I did, with sugar and tea canisters on the top deck and flavored syrups below.

I’ve owned my fair share of kitchen sink caddies. They’re fine. I like how they corral the sponges and soap, but too often the decorative trays pool water, soap, and grime, while the more utility-focused are either bleh-looking, overwrought, or come equipped with suction cups (always come unstuck, collects mold) and deep grated bottoms (hard to clean, traps gunk). I finally found this Nieifi caddy, which neatly holds my sponge, cleaning wand, pot scraper (see below), dish soap and hand soap. It looks nice and understated, and you can easily pick the whole thing up to tip out water from the collection tray below. You can also pop that into the dishwasher, or soap off when it needs a refresh. So far, so good.

I’m sure I could live without a pair of kitchen shears like this one from Henckels (also known for making reliable knives), but I don’t particularly want to. A dedicated pair of shears makes opening food bags, cutting meat and fish and trimming green beans dead easy. Storing them with your knives or utensils keeps them accessible where you need them and eliminates cross-contamination with your other scissors. Sturdy shears can butterfly poultry and this model unhinges for dishwashing — it’s dishwasher safe if in need of thorough sanitizing, but it usually cleans easily with soapy hot water and a sponge. This particular model costs under $15 on sale.

Tovolo

Bench scrapers, also known as pastry or dough scrapers or cutters, are typically used to pry dough off a work surface, though I use mine multiple times a day for either scraping or lifting items from my cutting board to a pan or bowl. I used to use the side of whichever knife I had in my hand, but this useful kitchen tool shovels more diced onions at a time and is safer anyway.

I’ve also used straight-sided bench scrapers, but the offset design is much easier for sliding under a pile of chopped food. It’s equally adept at its intended purpose of working with bread and pastry dough. This Tovolo bench scraper is the one I use and costs around $12.

Small bowls are hardly interesting or new and I have plenty of them, especially fluted and ribbed ramekins. But these wonderful dip bowls have made cooking and serving food more of a delight. I just love them. They’re useful enough for daily prep and pretty enough to serve on.

You can mound a surprising amount of food in the hollow, like lemon zest, olive oil, wasabi or even grated cheese like fresh parmesan. They cost $18 for a set of eight 3-ounce bowls.

Here’s how I use them:

  • Spoon rest
  • Used tea bag holder
  • Salt piggy
  • Egg holder
  • Prep bowl for ingredients like garlic, shallots, ginger
  • Prep bowl for blending spices (the mix flows into the pan really easily, without getting stuck in creases)
  • Garnish server
  • Server for individual desserts, like squares of chocolate, a brownie or a tiny scoop of ice cream
  • Sugar caddy for after-dinner coffee or tea
  • Ring valet (especially when taking off to work with slimy or sticky food)

My dad endearingly referred to these as “rubber fingers.” This set of two — one with a pointy end (pictured) and one that looks more like a paddle — are awesome for scraping, scooping and pushing down all types of food. Think the last little bit of something gooey like peanut butter from the jar, or getting every little bit of beaten egg out of a small bowl. I still use full-size spatulas for large work bowls, pots and pans, but these nonstick minis work better than spoons or my finger and fit really well into drawer dividers. They’re machine washable, too.

I had never heard of a pan or pot scraper until my colleague Rich Brown sang its praises. I have an elaborate and finely tuned method for steaming and scraping off stuck-on crud from pots, pans and bakeware, but I started getting a lot of time back once I began using this indispensable tool.

This kitchen gadget fits into your palm and easily scrapes away gunk with its flat and curved edges, which can also better reach into corners. Still expect a little sponge work, but mostly to wipe away loosened and leftover stuff. I was amazed with how my Lodge pot scraper obliterates the scum that builds up in a ring around the pan, say the leftovers of reduced marinara.

It cuts through residue faster and more efficiently than a hard plastic spatula and it won’t gunk up the scrubby side of a sponge with cheese, egg or starchy buildup. I recommend keeping it visible on your sink, near your sponges and dish soap. I initially put it into a drawer and forgot about it, but now it’s top of mind.

My friend bought a fancy new dishwasher with built-in wine holders and gave me three purple silicone tubes that help keep your wine glasses safe in the machine. “Here, you like wine,” she said. “You should use these.”

She was right. They may look derpy, but this perfect gift probably saved my wine glasses more than once. You fit one grippy end around your overturned stemware (as pictured) and slide the other end, a hollow tube, over a peg on the bottom rack of your dishwasher. A wire that runs two-thirds the length of the attachment supplies structure.

If a glass feels extra wobbly in the center of the bottom rack, I’ve been known to clip on two of these silicone holders for extra stability, one on either side. I used to hand-wash my wine glasses and still managed to break one here or there. Not anymore. It costs between $10 and $15 for a set of eight (depending on discounts and sales). I’ve run them in the dishwasher on a weekly basis for almost two years.

Great for elegantly draining pasta, reaching for items on the top shelf, juicing lemons and even cleaning window blinds. A pair of 9-inch or 12-inch silicone-tipped tongs costs about $17 and has become a trusty kitchen companion that does far more for a chef than just flip browning veggies and meat. Here are seven clever uses for kitchen tongs.

I love a small saucepan for so many reasons, including frying perfectly round eggs one at a time and reducing broth and sauces. Melting butter and making modest quantities of caramel or hot milk and cream are also great in an itty-bitty pan, especially if you’re trying to keep a small amount of liquid from evaporating too quickly.

I bought a “cup measuring pan” that’s a lot like this one, with a long handle, and I like it, though it’s not as thick as some of my other kitchen pots. I’d also happily consider a butter melting pot for butter, sauces, warming milk and boiling single eggs, but I currently use a tiny milk frothing jug for that, intended for espresso. Whichever pan you get should cost between $15 and $25, tops. Mine was about $15.

Why I’m Obsessed With These 11 Kitchen Tools. P.S. They’re Also Killer Gifts

This story is part of Gift Guide, our year-round collection of the best gift ideas.

OK, I admit it. I like the good stuff. While I won’t stop gushing about these kitchen tools under $25 that I don’t want to live without, I also wanted to share my current all-time favorite cooking tools that are absolutely worth the bigger bucks.

I’m not talking about dropping $500 on a single-use gadget that you’d use once a year. All my picks are tools I actually use every week, if not multiple times a day, and I stand behind every single one of them. And since I have a really tiny galley kitchen with some limited storage space, I’m confident that if any of these strikes your fancy, you’ll find room in your home, too.

Oh, and one more thing. I would give any single one of these as a gift for someone else (lucky them!), especially after gifting them all to myself (lucky me!).
